Read the territory
BPI’s current pet-waste policy is Canada-only by default for commercial certification. It describes an exemption process for another territory supported by accepting facilities; this is not blanket US acceptance.
Verify the product
Match the exact SKU and mark in the certifier record. We have not independently cleared any specific compostable bag SKU or a local US receiving facility for this site.
Ask the receiving program
Confirm that the program accepts both pet waste and that bag type. A certification mark alone does not authorize collection, and home and commercial composting scopes are different.
A verification record
Save the exact product identifier, the certifier entry or certificate reference, the stated home or commercial scope, the territory and the receiving program response with its date. If any of those fields is absent, retain the uncertainty. A different certification system may have different scope; do not extend BPI’s policy to every certifier or assume an unverified exemption exists for a particular product.
